8 Small but Important Ways to Take Care of Your Mental Health

You yourself are the one who has to take care of your mental health. You can not depend upon others to make you happy and stress-free. And It’s important to take care of yourself and get the most from life.

Making these small changes in your life will pay off in all aspects of your life. It can boost your mood and add to your overall enjoyment of life:

1. Talk about your feelings.

Talk about your feelings to yourself and others. When someone asks you ” How are you?”, we tend to answer “Fine, Good”. But are you actually. Most of the time, we don’t want to tell other people how we are actually feeling because we don’t wanna be judged. But you should talk out. Talking about your feelings isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s part of taking charge of your own wellbeing and doing what you can do to stay healthy and stress free. Even many times I have seen that depressed person doesn’t even need a single medicine, Physician just need to give some time and half of the complaints are already solved.

2.Tell yourself something positive.

How you feel without yourself is most important than what other think about you. Convince yourself to stay positive when you are blinded by negative thoughts. When we perceive our self and our life negatively, we can end up viewing experiences in a way that confirms that notion. Try to find the reason you are grateful for.

3. Follow the Sleep- Work- Eat- Repeat Cycle.

Everything is important. You should always manage your day in such a manner that you take proper sleep, eat sufficiently and work and exercise as required. Make time for everything not just focus on just working or exercising.

Without sleep, your mind won’t relax and you will mess up the situation. Sleep isn’t a magic reset button for your moods, but it can make a huge difference when you’re not getting enough. Regular exercise can boost your self-esteem and can help you concentrate, sleep, and feel better. A healthy diet that’s good for your physical health is also good for your mental health. If your body is lacking nutrients, you tend to fell ill and frustrated easily. Try to limit refined sugar and add more magnesium in your diet.

4. Focus on one thing at a moment.

When you are trying to multi tasking, your brain get exhausted and you mess up. You tend to get irritated and may be you stop doing even a single task. Start by bringing awareness to routine activities, such as taking a shower, eating lunch, or walking home. When your mind wanders, just bring it back to what you are doing.

5. Cut back the Alcohol.

You should drink alcohol sensibly. We often drink alcohol to change our mood. Some people drink to deal with fear or loneliness, but the effect is only temporary. Never ever drink to deal and escape the situation it may make you alcoholic in future.

6. Take a break.

A change in daily routine can help your mental health. It can be as small as bathing late that usual, or you may take 5 min break from cleaning or may just skip it or a day.A few minutes can be enough to de-stress you. Give yourself some ‘me time’.

7. Do little of what you enjoy on vacation in your daily routine.

Who doesn’t love vacation? One of the reason is we are free from daily routine life and can do what you enjoy or good at. It can be anything like painting, swimming, socializing with people, trying new dishes or drinks may be. This brings happiness in your life and you don’t crib about your boring life. Doing an activity you enjoy probably means you’re good at it, and achieving something boosts your self-esteem.

You have the power to take positive steps right now to improve your resilience and emotional health. Don’t wait until you’re in a crisis to make your mental health a priority.
