Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant or antiepileptic drug. It is used for controlling partial seizures. This medicine cannot cure epilepsy and will only work to control seizures for as long as you continue to take it.
Gabapentin works in the brain to prevent seizures and relieve pain for certain conditions in the nervous system. It is not used for routine pain caused by minor injuries or arthritis, fibromyalgia.

- Dizziness and drowsiness
- Doubled or blurred Vision
- Swelling of the hands/ankles/feet
- Fatigue
- weight gain
- Nystagmus (involuntary eye movement)
- Sleepiness
- Tremors or loss of coordination

Are There Any Psychiatric Side Effects That Come From Taking Gabapentin?
There are some rare side effects, which include the following symptoms:
- Agitation
- Decreased or increased libido
- Depersonalization
- Depression
- Anxiety attacks
- Mania
- Paranoia
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, mental/mood problems (such as depression, suicidal thoughts), use/abuse of drugs/alcohol, breathing problems.
