What is the best or worst time to drink green tea for good health?

Green tea is considered a healthy drink. Green tea not only helps you in weight loss but also it reduces the risk of cancer and heart disease. Green tea does help stabilize your metabolism. So, when you pair it with proper exercise and diet, green tea will help you lose weight. Green tea does have less caffeine than coffee although it’s an even better energy stimulant.

1. Early morning cup of green tea

There is no doubt that green tea has many health benefits. But drinking it empty stomach in the morning can affect your health. A study done on dietary supplement with green tea extracts found that green tea supplement on an empty stomach can have adverse effects on the liver.

2. Two Hours Before Or After A Meal

You should avoid green tea along with a meal, especially if you are anemic because the antioxidant catechins in green tea inhibit the digestion and absorption of iron from your diet.

Drinking it between meals allows the body to absorb iron from the food. If you still want to go ahead and drink the tea with your meal, then make sure you include food that enhances iron absorption, like vitamin C-rich food. Or you can add lemon your green tea would also help to an extent. Red meat is good to mitigate the interaction between tea and iron.

3. At Least Two Hours Before Bedtime

Green tea is obviously not a bedtime drink. The caffeine is the culprit here. Caffeine is a scientifically proven stimulant and disrupts sleep. So, it will keep you alert at the night. Green tea also contains the amino acid L-theanine, which has the capacity to calm you down but also make you alert and focus and concentrate better,  which disturbs getting a good night’s sleep.

The beverage is diuretic, which means that it will urge you to make frequent trips to the toilet. And frequent night-time toilet visits can disrupt your sleep.

4. Two To Three Cups A Day Is Enough

Unless had in moderation, green tea could cause some trouble to your body. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, a person should ideally limit his/her consumption of green tea to two or three cups a day or 100 to 750 mg of standardized green tea extract per day.
